BUILD THE LOOP terms of use
Draft for review. Not in force and not legal advice. Placeholders are in [square brackets]. Review before the pilot (docs/mvp-plan.md, O7).
Effective [date]. These terms apply when you use the BUILD THE LOOP web app at [app address], run by Samwoo Technologies Inc., Vancouver, BC, Canada (“Samwoo”, “we”). Using the app means you accept them. How we handle personal information is in the [privacy notice].
1. What BUILD THE LOOP is
BUILD THE LOOP lets you record the used shoes you give, bring them to a collection event or drop-off point, and follow what happens next in your Passport. It is a new service that we are still developing: features may change, and we may pause or end it. We will tell you by email before ending it.
2. Who can use it
You must be 13 or older. One account per person. Keep access to your email (and your Google or Apple account, if you use one) secure: anyone who can read your sign-in codes can open your account.
3. What a record means
- A contribution you record is your own statement of what you plan to bring or have brought. It is shown as recorded by you until a drop-off point or Samwoo confirms it.
- Shoes are shredded and mixed with others. Your Passport therefore follows the material lot your shoes joined, not individual pairs. A project connection means the lot was used in that project, not that a particular pair is in a particular place.
- We do not promise that your shoes will be used in a specific project, place or time, or at all: some shoes may not be suitable for recovery.
- A Passport is a record of participation. It is not a certificate, receipt for tax purposes, or proof of any environmental benefit.
- There is no payment or reward for contributions.
4. Giving shoes
- Bring only shoes that meet the accepted-shoe rule shown in the app: [rule text, from decision A5].
- Shoes you leave at a collection event or drop-off point are given to Samwoo to recover and use, and cannot be returned. Remove anything you want to keep.
- Follow the instructions of the event or drop-off point.
5. Using the app fairly
Do not record contributions you do not intend to make, use someone else’s account, interfere with the service or try to access other people’s information. Names on Passports must not be offensive or impersonate anyone. We may correct or remove records that are clearly false and suspend accounts that break these terms, after telling you why, unless the law or safety requires otherwise.
6. Your account and your data
You can download your data and delete your account at any time in Account. What happens to your information is described in the [privacy notice].
7. Our responsibility
We work to keep the app available and your records accurate, but the app is provided as it is, without guarantees that it will always work or be error-free. To the extent the law allows, Samwoo is not liable for indirect losses arising from the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
8. Changes to these terms
We will post changes here with a new effective date and email you about important changes before they apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
10. Contact
[loop@domain] for questions about the app, [privacy@domain] for privacy.
